A Project-Based Learning Classroom

Until now I have learnt so many things that I honestly didn’t know at all , all these new methods to incorporate in my future classrooms and the best part of this is that they are so entertaining and I am sure that my students will love them. We have always had this idea of these traditional projects   and Project-Based Learning is like an innovation for the teachers of the 21 th century, and so it was for me too. What I firstly found difficult about this project was understanding that this method was not about teaching students another way how to present and construct a project but mostly teaching something through the material provided with Project-Based Learning. This seems so complicated at once but it can be explained as such , a backward situation : before you prepare lesson plans, you prepare the final exams and at the same time you think about the material you will give to your students. These materials become the center of your classrooms, with which you develop pro...

A win-win situation with Flipped Classroom

Each and every week that we advance in this subject , I am facing with so many ways of improving  teaching methods and finding the best way to adapt to 21 th century perspective regarding teaching. I, as a present student and future teacher , hopefully, learnt about ‘ Flipped Classrooms’ and how to adapt this new method in my daily teaching. This isn’t the first time that I hear about this new method but it was the first time that I participated in one of it during our seminar classes in this subject. Whilst reading about Flipped Classroom , I found out that it was one of the most popular trends in education in recent memory. In these classes , also known as inverted classrooms, students review lecture materials before class as homework. In-class time is dedicated to interactive exercises , discussions and independent work that would have previously been completed at home. These new in-class activities are all completed under the guidance of the teacher , who is presen...

Teacher and Student in a Constructivist Classroom

While reading the lecture, I learnt that constructivism is a theory -based on observation and scientific study- about how people learn. This theory is based on the opinion that people construct their own understanding through experiencing things , events, situations and reflecting on these experiences. Traditionally speaking , a classroom situation was that where the focus was the teacher, being the controller, being the expert , who decides the activities that are about to take place , a classroom where the students are passive learners, and they just wait for the teachers to give the permission to them. Present day speaking , in a constructivist classroom, both the teacher and the student view knowledge as something new ,modern, that undergoes different developments day to day and that most of all, now the students view the teacher as a facilitator , creating all the time new methods , curriculums that will be useful for the student into the process of learning and above al...

Multiple Intelligence Theory and its effect on Teacher-Student

Image
Teaching may be one of the most difficult professions to perfect because despite having to share your knowledge with your students and above all teaching them , one of the hardest duties a teacher has to perform is to deal with the human mind of all of his/her students. Not every students’ brain   receives information in the same way as other students’ brain does , and this somehow hinders more the job of a teacher. So , the teacher has to know or at least , to study the different kind of intelligences through which the human brain works , processes information, decodes and is responsible for other processes also. The information that I previously had about Multiple Intelligences were just basic information about how different intelligences guide our processing and our preferences into being proficient in a dimension and not in others, but compared to the novelties to which we were introduced during the lecture, are little.   I used to think that we can be profic...
